Weening my son has been an interesting journey so far, I am extremely fortunate that he loves his food and tries everything I put in front of him. I love watching his little face light up as he tastes something new for the first time, it's just wonderful! It is important to me that Theodore gets a varied, healthy diet full of different flavours and so I cook him everything from Indian spicy fish curries to Italian chicken with pesto and Chinese chicken noodles. I am determined that Theodore will not be a fussy eater and so far it's paid off. His diet includes all kinds of meat, fish and vegetables with gentle spices and herbs to tickle his tastebuds.
I follow a mix of baby led weening and traditional weening. Offering Theo some finger foods with each meal as well as a main course and dessert item which I feed him with a spoon.
This blog is really for me to record what I am feeding Theodore so that I can look back at our journey. However, I hope it gives some inspiration to others on how to make weening your baby a fun and interesting journey. All the dishes on here are aimed at 7 months plus. Theodore does not have any food allergies as yet and so I urge you to be cautious when weening and ensure that when you cook with allergy foods such as nuts or shellfish, that you do so with caution. Also please ensure you check fish thoroughly for bones etc before cooking for your little ones.
•Porridge made with just under a scoop of Flahavans Irish quick oats and 4oz Theo's usual formula. I also added 3 chopped blackberries whilst it was cooking for colour and flavour.
•leftover fruits of the forest semolina (from breakfast) which sets to a blamanche like consistency in the fridge, so I loosen it slightly by beating in some full fat Yeo Valley yoghurt
•Slices of Braeburn Apple which I poached for 3 minutes in boiling water with a good shake of cinnamon, drained then let cool.
•Semolina made to packet instructions with Theo's usual formula with some fruits of the forest mixed in (I buy a bag of frozen and let a couple of tablespoons thaw out over night in a bowl in the fridge then cook it in to the semolina) - fruits of the forest can be quite tart, I dont add sugar and Theo hasn't minded at all, he wolfs it down!
My little Muncher is eight months old today! What a journey we've had so far. I'm so proud of my little guy and how he's developing, he makes my world!
